Young Achiever of the Year

Claims Handler Katie Russell has won a national award for Young Achiever of the Year. She helped her Sutton in Ashfield based Disaster Restoration Company deliver vital services to the victims of fire and flood.

Katie, who works for Rainbow International beat off competition from hundreds of colleagues across the UK to win the award. The national conference took place at Alton Towers Conference Centre where Katie was awarded her achievement.

Rainbow International specialises in restoring homes and businesses following fire, flood or accidental damage. The business covers the Derby West, Matlock, Ashbourne, Eastwood & Dronfield territories for the national company.

Katie’s boss Jennie Mills, said she had played a significant part in the success of the business. She has shown remarkable commitment and dedication.

Jennie said: “Katie has a tremendous attitude. For one so young she has a fantastic ability to re-assure and show empathy. Most of the time we are dealing with people at times of great stress and trauma in their life. Following a disaster or incident in their home, so a reassuring, calming and pleasing approach is absolutely vital.

The winter months had brought a surge of claims and we were receiving many new instructions each week. Katie is very keen to help others and is instrumental in managing our claims from start to finish. She applies the highest level of customer service to every job that she is apart of. 

About Katie

Katie, aged 18, has been at Rainbow for 18 months since leaving college. She is continuing her education while working. She has recently completed a Business Administration Level 2 apprenticeship. Katie has now progressed onto the AAT Accountancy Level 3 Apprenticeship. Commenting on her Young Achiever award said:

“It was a real surprise to find out I had won this national award. I really enjoy working here and this was the last thing I was expecting.”
